synlab laboratory network

2008–2022

For synlab czech I worked as a subcontractor for CNS, designing, configuring, and maintaining the network from the Prague headquarters and server rooms to branches in Brno, Plzeň, České Budějovice, Chomutov, Znojmo, and other cities.

• Cisco Catalyst switches (VLAN, EtherChannel, DHCP snooping, SNMPv3), IOS upgrades, network redesign for the headquarters and Brno branch, new server rooms (2012–2014),
• Cisco ASA firewalls and their migration to new models, DMZ for mail and FTP servers,
• site-to-site VPN to partner laboratories and the German headquarters, VPN to Azure for Office 365, remote access via AnyConnect with RADIUS authentication,
• Wi-Fi for employees and guests with 802.1X authentication,
• collaboration with Vodafone during the migration of branches to MPLS, QoS and bandwidth throttling,
• centralised logging (syslog-ng) and its use in security incident investigations,
• monitoring in Nagios and NagVis, configuration archiving in RANCID, custom check scripts,
• performance measurement and analysis of the laboratory application between the Czech and Slovak networks (2014–2016).
